Gaming

Wes has worked on literally hundreds of roleplaying, card, and board game projects from a wide range of publishers. The following are just a few.

“Foreword” — Wherein I talk about the mad science that goes into periodical making and suggest RPG music to blur the lines between mortals and gods.

“Guilty Blood: The Lost Prince” – Part two of the Guilty Blood Pathfinder’s Journal, wherein Laurel discovers that it’s not just her home city’s ancient buildings that are rotting, its their inhabitants too.

Available at Amazon and Paizo.

“Foreword” — Wherein I introduce Pathfinder’s first horror Adventure Path and make some suggestions for RPG music for ghosts and general creepiness.

“Guilty Blood: Common Ashes” – Part one of the Guilty Blood Pathfinder’s Journal, wherein Laurel and her thrill-seeking friends literally wake the dead. (Some even join them.)

Available at Amazon and Paizo.

I forget exactly what section of this I wrote, but I was the lead on the project, scripting the format and content of the project then wrangling a team of gaming greatest designers. Creating a book that’s accessible enough for beginning GMs but useful to veterans as well was a real challenge, but over the years this has proven to be one of Paizo’s most popular books—so we did something right!

Available at Amazon and Paizo.

“Bestiary: Fungus Leshy” – The Pathfinder RPG’s first leshy, reimagined from the Slavic myth as a family of plant allies that nature-loving heroes can create and adventure with as companions.

Available at Amazon and Paizo.

I wrote this treatise on terrifying creatures along with Paizo Creative Director James Jacobs and future Paizo Senior Dev Rob McCreary. Doing a bit of cherry picking, I snapped up ghosts, mummies, and, of course, vampires.

Available at Amazon and Paizo.

“Bestiary” – Featuring the haniver gremlin, rot grub, torble, and the ukobach devil. I wrote the ukobach and did significant development on the strix, the latter of which has grown into a fascinating and deadly race in the Pathfinder world.

Available at Amazon and Paizo.

A player-friendly overview of what’s what and what works for the Council of Thieves Adventure Path.

Available FOR FREE at Paizo.

“Bestiary” – I had a significant hand in working on Ahriman, Lord of the Divs, and the azi dragons in this volume. I still chuckle about Ahriman’s swallow whole ability that sends creatures into a terrifying Hell-dimension.

Available at Amazon and Paizo.

“Bestiary” – Oh, this is a neat one! I wrote up the coeurl for this volume, a creature from the story “Black Destroyer” by A. E. van Vogt. Van Vogt’s estate was kind enough to give us permission to stat up the monster. This is doubly cool, because Black Destroyer is the inspiration behind D&D’s displacer beast—a monster we can’t use in Pathfinder products. But getting permission to include the monster behind the monster and give a shout-out to Van Vogt’s amazing work was fantastic! Our agreement was for one book, so the coeurl is closed content and never appeared in later Pathfinder accessories, but it was a fun collaboration for that one time.
